SEASON AFTER SEASON, WE HELP SHAPE A RESPONSIBLE FUTURE

OUR RESPONSIBLE COMMITMENTS

SCROLL TO DISCOVER

At Buissonnière, we firmly believe that fashion can be done differently.

From the very beginning, we have been creating high-quality clothing with respect for both people and the environment at its core.

As a small Belgian company, we aim to set an example for large multinationals.

No overproduction, no unnecessary intermediaries. We focus on what truly matters: natural and organic materials, trusted partners, and concrete commitments.

In 2018, this approach was given a name: WeAct. A program striving for a better future, bringing together all our social and environmental actions, past and present.

Our brand is certified GOTS, FSC, SA8000, and BSCI. But the everyday choices we make go beyond labels and truly make a difference: prioritising organic cotton, reducing our ecological footprint, supporting organisations that help children…

We know the road ahead is still long. Yet, season after season, we continue to take steps in the right direction — modest, but determined. We want to offer the next generation more than beautiful clothing; we want to offer them a bright future.

Natural and certified materials

At Buissonnière, over 85% of our collections are made from natural materials such as cotton, viscose, lyocell, linen, or wool. We give preference to organically certified materials, including GOTS-certified cotton, FSC-certified viscose (Forest Stewardship Council), and RWS-certified wool (Responsible Wool Standard).

Responsible production

We do not engage in mass production or endless stock. For each item, we strive to limit waste and find the right balance between supply and demand.

Waste reduction and recycling

Our garments are designed to last a lifetime and to be passed down from one generation to the next. Unsold items are donated to organisations fighting poverty. We also encourage our customers to embrace this mindset by repairing their clothes when needed or giving them a second life through donation.

Greener transport

To reduce our ecological footprint, we mainly rely on sea and road transport for delivering our clothing. On each product page, a small boat icon indicates when an item has been shipped by sea.

Sustainable packaging

Since 2015, we have stopped offering plastic bags in our stores, opting instead for reusable fabric tote bags. All cardboard and plastic used for packaging in our stores is recycled, allowing us to avoid up to 20 tonnes of waste every year.

Green and local energy

Our offices and our store in Wavre are equipped with solar panels, enabling us to produce our own green energy.

Long-term partnerships built on trust

We collaborate with independent workshops in Portugal, India, and China. Each partner has been carefully selected for their expertise and ethical values. These long-standing family-run partnerships, some spanning decades, are built on mutual trust and respect.

Ethical working conditions

We regularly conduct audits in our workshops according to international standards such as SA8000 and BSCI. We ensure that everyone involved in the making of our garments works in fair and safe conditions.

Transparency and traceability

We are committed to communicating transparently about our production process. Every step — from fabric selection to garment manufacturing — is carefully documented to guarantee full traceability.

Supporting children

We have chosen not to take part in Black Friday or offer excessive discounts. Several years ago, we decided to take a different path — one of sharing. Every year, the profit generated on Black Friday is entirely donated to an organisation supporting children, turning it into a truly meaningful Friday.

Rounding up for solidarity

Our commitment goes even further. Customers have the option to round up their purchase amount and donate the difference to a charity dedicated to the protection and well-being of children. A small gesture that, together with many others, makes a real impact.

Donating to those in need

We believe that fashion can be a powerful driver of solidarity. That’s why we donate prototypes and unsold garments to social organisations, such as shelters for children placed out of home by court order, or to local associations through partners like the Red Cross. Even without finding a buyer in our stores, these garments can still make a difference in someone’s life.

At Buissonnière, we are convinced that responsible fashion is possible. Our social and environmental commitments are the beating heart of our approach. Through them, we aim to offer our customers clothing that is sustainable, ethical, and of the highest quality.
